Welcome to Eagle Ridge!  I hope that you find the information listed on this website to be of assistance to you.  I value the partnerships that the Eagle Ridge staff and I have with our parent community.  With that connection, it is more likely for students to find success in school.

Eagle Ridge teachers provide quality, appropriate, and rigorously challenging instruction to students by planning focused lessons using the Arizona State Standards, CORE© Knowledge content, and prescriptive reading and writing instruction as outlined in Arizona Learns legislation and No Child Left Behind federal legislation.  The teachers do not plan lessons on a “one size fits all” idea.  The lessons are differentiated so that students get instruction for their specific learning needs at varied levels.

CORE© Knowledge is a specific and sequenced curriculum for students in Kindergarten through eighth grade.  It provides a detailed framework of specific content and sequenced learning from grade to grade; it is based on current educational research; it is a coherent foundation for learning; it produces cultural literacy; it is motivational for learners, and is aligned to Arizona State Standards in PVUSD CORE© schools. We teach CORE© Knowledge because it increases student understanding, promotes excellence and fairness, eliminates gaps and repetitions in learning, integrates technology, includes diverse perspectives, and increases critical thinking.  To find out more about CORE© Knowledge go to their website at: www.coreknowledge.org

Our learning environments are productive and safe for children.  This is accomplished through a varied approach. We have an anti-bullying and anti-violence policy in place.  Our school social worker goes into every Kindergarten through sixth grade classroom and teaches lessons on both topics.  The Make Your Day Citizenship program has strict consequences for bullying and violence at school. The Character Counts program is emphasized in the classroom by each child’s teacher and by the principal.  This program assists students in building character in the areas of Responsibility, Fairness, Citizenship, Caring, Trustworthiness, and Respect.  To find out more about the Character Counts and the Make Your Day program, please visit their websites at: www.charactercounts.org and  www.makeyerday.com

We currently have an on-line system called pIGB (click here) where parents can access current information on their child’s grades and progress on a daily basis from home via Internet access.  This will certainly enrich the daily communication between home and school for parents.  At this time, parents do have access to the school via phone, email, teacher websites, and in person at scheduled conferences.  We encourage parents to contact teachers to discuss any concerns and clarify information coming home at mutually agreeable meeting times.

The potential of a young child's mind is limitless.  The only factor that may limit the child from reaching his/her true potential, is an outside influence if it questions the child's confidence and beliefs in him or herself.

At Eagle Ridge our staff works toward nurturing a child's confidence and beliefs by affirming them through their instruction and feedback.  Ongoing assessments given by the teacher drives the instructional plans for each child.  By differentiating instruction in the classroom children are given the support they need to achieve significant growth.

We expand our beliefs about what a child can accomplish, and that results in the child expanding his/her own beliefs about themselves.

I hope you enjoy our website.  I know you will enjoy our school.  It is a positive place for students, staff, and parents.  This is an important piece to academic success.  Welcome!

Mary E. Parese, Eagle Ridge Principal
