Join PTA through yearly membership. Membership envelopes have been included in the 1st day packet sent home with your child or you can pick one up in the office. Please return to the front office.
Attend PTA meetings. Meetings are usually held monthly in the media center. Everyone is invited to attend.
Become a PTA board member. A nominating committee is formed in February and elections are held in April. Contact a current board member for more information.
Chair a committee, organize an event, or coordinate a program. Despite our dedicated volunteers, there are always vacancies in leadership positions. Join a committee. We're always looking for additional help. Even if you can only spare a little time, we can find something for you to do.
Volunteer to participate in events and activities. A volunteer sign-up sheet was included in the 1st day packet sent home with your child. Your help is needed to support many activities. Please return volunteer sign-up sheets to the front office. Event staffing is generally done in shifts to allow volunteers a chance to enjoy the events with their families.
Help with fundraising or donations. Do you have contacts that could help the PTA with fundraising or donations of goods, services, or cash? Are you willing to solicit donations from local businesses?
Let us know what you're good at. We might not even know we need you yet! Do you have any hobbies or special interests that you could share with our school community?
Visit our district's Community Education website to find information pertaining to summer school programs, district sponsored enrichment activities, pre-school programs, adult education programs, facility and field use, and other items of interest to students and their parents.
DSES PTA is a member of the United Parent Council that is the largest parent organization in the PVUSD. Meetings are held the 3rd Wednesday of the month at the District office. Meetings are open to all parents and community members. If you are interested in learning more, please go to the UPC web site at www.pvupc.org.

IDEAL is an Arizona Department of Education initiative, which has recently been released to schools statewide. Practice online assessments (automatically scored and presented to the student) for AIMS Math in grades 3-12, Reading 7-12, and Writing 9-12, are currently available for use at home. ASSET @Home is a public, free web site that provides valuable web sites to help your child with understanding in Math, Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies. There are resources for parents, which include information about exceptional children and resources from PBS.
