Overview
This scope and sequence is aligned with the seven physical education
standards adopted by the Arizona State Board of Education. Additional
district objectives not included in the standards appear as bulleted
items.
Student Goals —
- Recognize the value of physical education and exhibit a physically
active and healthy lifestyle
- Be involved in activities that allow for personal success
- Allow for a varied and broad curriculum
- Develop basic safety skills and attitudes
- Develop a positive self-concept
- Development of social skills
- Develop skills and understandings for leisure and life time
activities
- Develop an awareness for health and wellness concepts
Teacher Goals —
- Plan lessons that are consistent with state standards and
the district scope and sequence
- Provide a broad and varied curriculum for students that will
assure that the curriculum will meet the needs of the entire
school population
- Conduct classes in a safe environment and utilize proper
instruction to assure safe participation
- Provide positive aspects of student performance and help
students gain a realistic understanding of their strengths
and weaknesses
- Help develop social skills within physical education activities
- Offer
programs that help students develop physical skills and knowledge
that will allow them to participate in and derive enjoyment
from wholesome recreational activities throughout their lifetime
Parent Goals —
- Support and encourage the acceptance of differences and the
willingness to work with others
- Appreciate the value of physical education in the schools
- Support and participate in lifetime activities/recreational
activities/health activities of the student and their responsibility
in everyday life
- Discuss with the student the importance and contributions
of physical education not only in the present, but also in
the future
