Content Overview by Grade Level:
Ninth
L.I.F.E. Concepts: The
physical education curriculum is divided into two sections (.5
each/ 1 credit total). The L.I.F.E. Concepts course develops
the knowledge and skills necessary to continue to maintain good
health. An emphasis will be placed on developing the student’s
appreciation of an optimum level of physical fitness, through
participation in lifetime leisure sports and activities, and
health and fitness related exercise programs. The curriculum
also includes instruction from the human growth and development
curriculum.
The second .5 of the course provides the student
an opportunity to select a PE Choice class. These classes
focus on a variety of lifetime and leisure sports (i.e. yoga,
pilates, racket sports, recreational sports, outdoor activities,
etc.)

Connection to Health
Standards
At the elementary level K-6, Comprehensive Health Standards
and the ABC’s of health and fitness are integrated
into the physical education program. Health in
grades 7-12 is integrated through the physical education,
L.I.F.E. Concepts and Human Growth and Development program.
