THE ORGANIZATION OF BLACK AIRLINE PILOTS

DELTA AIRLINES

SUMMER2008

ATLANTA ACE CAMP

The Organization of Black Airline Pilots and Delta Air Lines sponsors a camp for students ages 14 to 18 years old who are interested in aviation. One of the purposes of the camp is to increase the number of people of color and women to join the commercial aviation industry but any student regardless of race or gender may apply for this program. Applicants are ranked for admission according to their age, GPA, and essay requirement.

The camp is free to all students who are admitted but it is not a residential camp so anyone not living in the Atlanta area has to make other arrangements for room and board.  Topics that the program will explore include: aviation history, meteorology, flight simulation, aerodynamics, careers in aviation, aviation legends, and a "dream flight" from Atlanta to Houston to visit the NASA Johnson Space Center.

Program Dates: Session 1: July 14 - July 18

                              Session 2: July 21 - July 25

                              Dream Flight: July 23

                              Graduation: July 25

The second session is recommended for out of town students because of the timing of the Dream Flight and Graduation.

Application Deadline: June 2
