My role as the school nurse of Copper Canyon is to collaborate with the educators to provide an environment conductive to learning. I assess and evaluate the health and developmental status of the student. I am the health care liaison to the student. As the school nurse, I counsel, educate, and find resources to assist in each student’s health care. I serve as a consultant for the health curriculum; provide screening programs for diseases of the eyes, ears, and teeth; keep immunization records; assist in placement for special education programs; and act as the giver of first aid in an emergency.
