****************************************

ItÕs so nice to have the family back home again!  Hopefully, your summer was restful and tiring at the same time!  A parent asked me the other day what I was most proud of about CCES.  My response is that academically, we still achieve as well as any school, but that our kids have lots of fun while doing so.  We celebrate holidays, have field trips, do hands-on science activities, take part in the arts, etc.

If you are new to CCES, welcome!

I know you are going to love it here!!

ACCELERATED READER

Check it out:  96% of all 3rd – 6th graders either Met or Exceeded on the 2008 AIMS tests.

Student in 2nd thru 6th grade have been given two AR goals: to read a certain amount of points each quarter; and to pass the quizzes with an 80% or better passing rate.  If you and the teachers join forces to ensure that the students read every night, what a great reader your child will be! AR is also a separate grade on the report card and carries equal weight as math in determining Honor Roll and Top of the Canyon.

The expectations for each grade are:

2nd – 10 points/ quarter                 3rd – 15 points/quarter

4th – 20 points/quarter                  5th – 25 points/quarter

6th – 30 points/quarter
