PTA at Arrowhead
What is the PTA?
- The largest statewide volunteer organization
working exclusively for children and youth.
- A part of the
National PTA and its membership of nearly 6 million.
- An advocacy group
for children before national, state and local government,
working to influence policy.
- Makers dealing with child education
and health issues.
- A network of volunteers serving on important
statewide committees of other organizations that deals with
children ’s
issues.
PTA Mission - The mission of the National PTA is three-fold:
- To support and speak on behalf of children and youth in
the schools, and before governmental agencies and other organizations
that make decisions affecting children;
- To assist Parents in
developing skills they need to raise and protect their children;
and
- To encourage parent and public involvement in the public
schools of this nation.
PTA Objectives
- To promote the welfare of children and youth in home,
school, community, and place of worship.
- To raise the standards of
home life.
- To secure adequate laws for the care and protection
of children and youth.
- To bring into closer relation the home
and the school, that parents and teachers may cooperate intelligently
in the education or children and youth.
- To develop between
educators and the general public such united efforts as will
secure for all children and youth the highest advantages
in physical, mental, social, and spiritual education.

child-related issues.

- Demanding adequate and equitable
funding for public education.
- Fighting attempts to divert
public taxes to private schools through voucher programs.
- Supporting use of bicycle helmets and other health
and safety issues.
- Promoting parental involvement.
