Week of December 1, 2008
Period 1: Life Skills
The focus of our class this week is Nutrition and Health.
Each student was given a workbook in which all of the assignments and activities
are contained. Each day we will do a portion of the pages. The students will be
able to keep these workbooks for future reference.
Periods 2, 3, 4/5, and 7: English
We have begun our unit on The Diary of Anne Frank.
Each day students will write an entry in a daily journal/diary. This will be checked
weekly. A minimum of a 1/2 page daily is expected.
Along with the reading of the diary, the "play" will be read, and several
documentary videos will be viewed. There will be several informal writing
assignments and one essay at the end of the the unit.
Vocabulary Activities:
Students were given a list of words for each section of the diary. As we read through each section, selected words are to be written on index cards which will include the part of speech and a definition as it is used in the diary.
