Mrs. Martin's Visual Art Class

First and kindergarten classes are learning to use lines and shapes to draw objects. They are also learning about details and background so that their pictures are worth thousands of words. Second and Third grades are adding to their prior knowledge to create visual texture and color to add meaning and personal expression to their art work. Fourth grade is painting a Monochromatic Lizard (shades and tints of one color). Fifth grade is working on observation of details and reproducing those details using line and shape. They are also studying arrangement of objects into a pleasing composition. Their next project is working with math and art to create tessellations. Sixth grade is finishing up an abstract painting using warm and cool colors. Their next project will go along with their unit on Egypt as we work on a Cartouche tooled in copper.
