The purpose of this website is to communicate with parents about classroom/school activities and events.
We have begun book 3 in the text. We are practicing adding 2 digit number and using base ten manipulatives to understand adding 2 digits with regrouping. Every day at 12:00 we work on math fact speed on out laptops with the FastMath program.
Several times a week we play money lotto. We all count out change and write our answers on scraps. Two winners are pulled out of a hat to win a prize.They must have their name and the correct answer written correctly.
Macro books are due the last day of the month. Do feel free to turn yours in early. We only had 8 out of 24 students participate in November!
We have been working on reading and spelling words with various vowel combinations-ou, ai, oa, etc. We continue to discuss cause/effect, predicting and inferring. The kids love to pick out homophones and compound words where ever they see them!
Reading logs are available in the classroom. They are due on the last day of the month. Our monthly reading goal is 15 books, or chapters. Student meeting their reading goals will get their free pizza coupon and attend the reading dance party.
We've recently finished a unit on technology and how it impacts our lives. We are beginning a unis on weather and clouds.
We are taking a field trip to the art museum on Dec. 11. All students need a permission slip to attend!
