Ms. Gosney
Welcome to my web page!!! sweettotally0.wav

Background:  I grew up in a small town in Iowa.  I graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa with my BA Elementary Education in 1990.  I then went on and got my master's degree in Special Education in 1993.  I completed my administrator's degree in 1998 again from the University of Northern Iowa.  I taught 3 years in Vinton-Shellsburg Community Schools and 3 years at Dunkerton Community School.  I then moved to Arizona, teaching in Scottsdale Unified Schools for 6 years before coming to Paradise Valley Schools.  I have been teaching in a special education resource class at Echo Mountain Intermediate School for the past 3 years.

Here are some good suggestions for my students:
1.      Come to school every day
Please bring your student to school on time, if you are bringing your student to school.   First bell rings at 9:00 a.m.

Attend school every day –  recreational activities (i.e.; movies) need to be done during afterschool hours and weekends.

2.      Have your supplies ready.

3.      Have your materials organized.
A student planner or home/school book may be used for communication between school and home.

4.      Pay attention in class.

5.      Complete assignments on time.
A student planner (assignment book) may be utilized by the Intermediate grade students.  Please check this book out every night.

A homework folder is sent home on Monday and returned on Friday.  Reading, Math, and Spelling will be assigned for homework every week.

Reading – a reading log will be implemented this year.   Please make sure                                       that log is filled in and that your student does read a total of 60 minutes a week.
Math – 3 math assignments will be given for homework each week.   These assignments are meant to be on an independent level (the student should be able to do it with not much assistance.)
Spelling – A new spelling list will be sent home on Monday.  Three spelling activities are to be completed during the week.  There are some suggestions listed in the homework folder.

In order to make each student responsible for his or her homework, I have set up a Homework Folder in the back of my classroom.  If homework is not completed on time, the student will write what homework was not completed, indicate the reason it was not completed, and the date it will be completed.

6.      Follow directions.

7.  Ask for help when you need it.
If you have any questions regarding ANYTHING, please give me a call at school at 602-485-7040  ext. 2951.
8.       Participate in class activities.
My students participate in their regular classroom homerooms for specials (Fitness, Music, and Art), as well as field trips, special speakers.

9.      Follow all school rules.  Follow all the Make Your Day citizenship program rules.

10.  Always do your best.
The words “I can’t” are changed to “I’ll try” in my classroom.
